HAHAHA! That SUCKLED!

Seriously, terribly drawn, and your music selector is broken. When I changed scenes the music changed but the selector display didn't. Plus, like we really need more dress-up games. Especially ones as ugly as your tutorial.

And you didn't even tell them to make sections for different clothing for different body types. Like legs1 has a subset of leg_clothing different from legs_2 that you can change with another button. And what about layers? Like shirts that hang over pants?

Also, your setup was terrible. And giving it a fancy name like "Character creator" doesn't make it any less of a dress-up game. What can I expect. It seems that you cannot code properly, as is evident by your broken music selector.

Furthermore,

And I must reiterate: No more ugly (and boring) dress-ups. That's why the only redeeming factor of my only submission was its message rather than it's content. Oh, and I actually at least spent time to make it look good. /portal/view/242661

yoyoboy666 responds:

It's not meant to have good graphics. It's just showing people how to do what I did. This code could be helpful to people. If you didn't care for the graphics, I might improve those. But all my other reviews didn't complain about much/anything. I only added the music selector as an extra thing, it's probably broken because I originally coded it to stay on one frame. And I noted in the example that I'll make another tutorial sometime if people want to know about changing body types/using layers.

Bland

And nice "extra credit." Really. It's great to generalize. Because lyrics mean nothing, and classic rock has never spewed out a pile of steaming shit. Oh, wait... I was using poxism.

The text was ugly, the color scheme uninspired, the self-gratifying display boring and the questions too easy. And there are good rap songs. And there are bad rock songs.

KyleDaFox responds:

No there are no good rap songs, it was a joke, anyway, yes there are bad rock songs but not many.

Buggy as a bunny

It kept showing me 'Ka' and I kept clicking it. Each time it said I was wrong. Then, at some points, Ka wasn't even a choice. Nice concept and sound.

LuckyLollipopLad responds:

I haven't encountered this problem, despite much testing.

Bear in mind that when the start to be rotated, they can be tricky to spot, so maybe it was there, but the rotation threw you off?

And the principle behind the kRating system is that if you get something wrong, it will show you that same thing again, to learn from your mistakes.

Thanks for bothering to give the bug report and also for balancing that with the kind words. I'd like some more details regarding the former and will shoot you a PM.

Stay funky!

What resolution are you at?

Join 2006. I'm not changing my display to play that slightly flawed game. You can RClick after you point at the green button to skip forward and the spaces are too tight for hi-res displays. The graphics were blotchy, why may make it "challenging" on lower resolutions, but just end up to be frustratingly ugly on larger monitor. Yet, the contextual blocking was a nice twist. Sound got annoying.

Brewell responds:

What dont you underatand about FIRST ATEMPT get with the program you dont know what you are saying cause i dident inderstand most of this review

Standard platmormer

Floaty controls

joshuaskillsrobles responds:

Sorry about that. Ill try to make them better in my next jumping style game.

A lottle slow, so a little boring

Thanks tom or whoever put it up? The users did! It's automated by the score this flash got based on user votes. Thank the users of NG!

So this was a little easy for my skill level. Maybe make a second version with a few added options. Something like keeping the gradual speed increase but in addition allow the player to speed up a few notches and be able to go back to the base speed. This will allow it to get faster a little quicker for the more advanced players. Also, you could then measure distance and time, and maybe have a scoring algorithm based on these criteria.

The-Mercenary responds:

nah, I have to thank tom. The game went by unnoticed so I asked tom play it and see if he likes it or not. And its on the FP now. As for the other stuff, there are 3 levels, the desert is the hardest one so try that level if you want something harder. As for the other suggestions, they would be great if I made the second one, but after being on the front page this long and only 14k views....yea its not doing too good.

It just wasn't that good

Sound quality was bad, and the clips weren't exactly all board-worthy. It wasn't pretty either. Bonus for content, though.

DeckMaster171 responds:

i gotta say im disapointed in the review but thanks anyway

Great tutorial.

Well, volume control, nice crisp interface. Covers the basics well with good descriptions and examples. I'd explain the code a little more though, like another step for "in depth."

Look at the code for the NG preloader. Basically, you stop the flash and check the number of bytes in the movie against the number of bytes already loaded, then play (at about 95% just in case the last few bits hang).

bloodragon1 responds:

Ya i tried to put most of the basic stuff in im thinking of making a Sequal to it or another version and explaining how to amke a preloader and i shall explain the script THX for the review.

A review isn't useful unless you give the submission a 10.
