eh
No scoring, no music, no SFX, no special items, and the power pellets last too long.
Very good
As far as tutorials on this site go, that was pretty good. A simple but well presented tutorial for beginners.
Needs work
Needs SFX and music (not too loud on this one). Didn't play ta 7 bc it got boring. Maybe the waves should be faster. And do you get spells or something? Nice twist, though.
Try again
Well, the interface was clean, but it wasn't well done. Why include Homer's face if you can't see it? You should have made transparent buttons with outlines that had either 3D or shading effects. Also, the sound on some of the clips was grainy, or hollow, or it cut off on the end, and the volume needed to be normalized. Good sound is paramount to a sound board, and it just wasn't that great of selection of sound clips. Too bad.
Not that great in implentation or idea
Ya, everyone did try to kill the dog. And someone has already made a flash that lets you. In fact, it recreates the game with Dog Shoot instead of Clay Pidgeons. Yep, you can play the original 1 and 2 duck formats. Does yours end? What, no bullets or rounds? And it doesn't matter where you shoot the dog, because the bullet hole appears in the same place every time. The dog is basically a moving button. Whoopie. Try making a remake with all the classic rounds BUT include that you can use the "3rd bullet" on the dog. Otherwise... BLAM! Sorry, but it's not original and the others were FAR superior. They weren't perfect, but yours isn't even passable (see 'bullets','rounds').
Buncha wrong and a right
Well, it's a simple game that immitates many that have been made so long ago, and more recently the superior "Save the Ring" on NG. Too bad the playing area is so small. That limits the time you can spen playing it before being forced to lose. I think my high was 85 out of like 5 tries or so. That's what's bad about it. Too short of a gaming experience. It's kinda nice that the 'killers' don't go away because it makes it challenging, but StR goes in waves so the entire screen doesn't fill up with enemies and then you lose, and the enemies have varying speeds. Plus, it has a bigger playing field, obstacles, and better graphics and animation. It also has SOUND. It's even less impressive that you didn't write the script. Maybe you can 'tweak' this even more.
Has bugs
Scene generation caused a rock and tree to be both too close to the top edge and too close to each other, and when a ring appeared above and between them it was inaccessible. Could have been at least an 8, but this bug dashed that.
What a friggin tease!!!
Say that this is the demo. and in the full version you have three or four more scenes, and a password ability or a continue, or an amount of lives. Art was great, animation was smooth. You don't see games like these anymore. I still remember the cartoon arcade machine Dragon's Liar in my mall. As the story progresses, try using more multiple instuctions in a shot. They can get challenging and really make a game worth beating. Also, maybe actual dialogue would be nice, but a lack of words and using just sounds can make it more palatable to varying regions. So, whatever.
A review isn't useful unless you give the submission a 10.
